GET TO KNOW NANOX
THE KNOWLEDGE OF NATURE AT THE SERVICE OF LIFE
On July 26, 2004 the chemical industry sector registered the foundation of an company that would be one of the main agents in combating the spread of a deadly virus, such as the coronavirus. Nanox Tecnologia was born, currently one of the world references in safe microbiological control of surfaces and materials in different markets.
FROM SPIN-OFF TO JOINT-STOCK COMPANY
The presence of microorganisms is widely known. People and industries suffer from constant damage to materials or health. And this gave meaning to Nanox, coming from the academic world as a spin-off of the UFSCar's Functional Materials Development Center. The CDMF, which is one of the most important international references in research and development, is led by the mentor of the founders and one of the greatest Brazilian scientists, Elson Longo, who holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, emeritus holder of the university and is currently a member of Nanox scientific board.
Since then, Gustavo Simões (current CEO) and Daniel Minozzi (current COO) have continued to specialize, attracting partnerships and building the company for the global business scenario. It is currently a privately held S/A (joint-stock company) that has a Differentiated Corporate Governance model, a level promoted by a board composed of founders, investors and strategic institutions.
IF THERE IS NO WIND, ROW
Nanox has always been highlighted in the media. One that draws attention is the one from 2009, when Pequenas Empresas & Grandes Negócios magazine issued “Trio high-tech” where it brought some of the history so far:
“If there is no wind, row”. The phrase, stamped on the door of Nanox's headquarters, in São Carlos, in the countryside of São Paulo State, translates the philosophy of three young chemists determined to transform knowledge into a profitable business. Within four years, André Araújo (right), Gustavo Simões (left) and Daniel Minozzi (center), all in their 30s, started handling materials a billionth of times smaller than a meter and opened the first nanotechnology company in Brazil. They developed an antimicrobial solution invisible to the naked eye, capable of being applied to metals, glass, ceramics, wood, fibers and plastic.
STRUCTURE
In Brazil, there are two manufacturing units that produce more than 50 different biocides and microorganism control products, where Nanox has the expertise in chemical synthesis, inorganic and organic, and offers microbiology laboratories for control, support and development of applications for your customers. Nanox is also present in the US with a unit focused on market intelligence and intellectual property.
